CLEVELAND, Ohio – On Wednesday afternoon the Mid-American Conference announced that the University at Buffalo Swimming and Diving team swept the Athlete of the Week awards in week five, with Clarice Fisher winning the Swimmer of the Week award, and Victoria Franz earning Diver of the Week honors.
Fisher and Franz's sweep of the awards marks the seventh time in program history that Buffalo has swept the weekly honors. Franz was Buffalo's Diver of the Week award winner in six of those seven instances. The last time the Bulls swept the swimming and diving weekly awards was January 26th, 2021, when Jillian Lawton and Franz earned the honors.
Fisher's award-winning performance marks the first time that she earned the Swimmer of the Week award since joining the Bulls in the 2019-2020 season. The graduate student was Buffalo's top point earner among all swimmers against Miami of Ohio last Saturday, placing first in the 100 yard butterfly (56.03), second in the 200 yard butterfly (2:04.53) and third in the 200 yard IM (2:09.88).
Franz's Diver of the Week honors mark the second time the graduate student has won the award this season. After being named the Diver of the Week award winner just two weeks ago against Ball State, Franz continued her momentum against Miami of Ohio, placing first in 1M-diving (299.55) and third in 3M-diving (270.00). Franz has the most Athlete of the Week awards in program history, with this week's award marking the 11th time the graduate student has been named Diver of the Week since joining the Bulls in 2019-2020.
The Bulls are in action next at the Princeton Invitational on December 1st through December 3rd.
