BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (22-6, 12-4 MAC) lost to the reigning MAC Champion Bowling Green Falcons (15-12, 9-7 MAC) on Friday evening, 25-23, 12-25, 18-25, 19-25.

The Bulls won the first set, 25-23, but then lost three straight to close the match. UB's offense struggled to find a rhythm against the Falcons as they were out hit, .240 to .161. In total, Bowling Green finished with 51 kills and 20 attack errors. UB racked up 43 kills but had 21 attack errors.

The first set had the most ties and lead changes with 14 and five, respectively. UB finally secured their largest lead of three when they led 24-21. That did not stop the Falcons as they Bulls had a few chances at set point. Bowling Green came back to be within one and force a UB timeout. Abby Leigh finished it off with a kill. UB hit a set-high .353 with Katrin Trebichavska and A. Leigh each finishing with four kills and Stacia Gollogly and Courtney Okwara adding three apiece.

Once the Falcons led 7-6, it was a runaway. Bowling Green went on to take the set with an 18-6 run. The Bulls only produced five kills, but had five attack errors to go with it. In total, the Bulls had 14 errors in the set.

The third and fourth sets went Bowling Green's way as the Bulls offensive struggles continued. The Falcons capitalized with six total blocks, five of which came in the third set. The Bulls had 20 total errors in the final two sets compared to the Falcons 15. In the fourth set, UB outhit the Falcons, .290 to .273, but UB's five reception errors in the set, gave the advantage to the Falcons.

After a 13-dig night, Maria Futey moved to eighth all-time in program history in career digs. She passed Nikki Morzenti (2003-06 / 1,126) as she's now up to 1,136 digs. Somer Deschambault (1996-99 / 1,231) is seventh in UB history.

The Bulls are back in action tomorrow and will look for redemption against the Falcons at 4 p.m.
