Bulls Drop Match to the Falcons

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The University at Buffalo women's volleyball team (22-7, 12-5 MAC) lost in straight set to the Bowling Green Falcons (16-12, 10-7 MAC) on Saturday evening, 23-16, 23-25, 18-25.
It was a tough match for the Bulls as they only mustered 32 kills. They could not catch up to the Falcons offense as they hit .176 to the Falcons .280. Bowling Green relished in the moment picking up 48 kills.
Katrin Trebichavska finished with a team-high 10 kills and two aces. As a team, they out-blocked the Falcons, 6-1. Tehya Shaw finished with a career-high four blocks.
Bowling Green led wire to wire in the first set as they were error free on the offensive attack. The Bulls had to burn a timeout once the Falcons jumped out to a 6-0 lead. Chloe Brown saw some early action to help slow the Falcons attack. Bowling Green finished with an attack percentage of .538 to UB's .147. The Falcons won the set, 25-16.
The Bulls outhit the Falcons in the second set, .179 to .155, but the Falcons still had eight more kills than the Bulls. Bowling Green had 19 kills, as UB finished with 11. UB led 18-15, but the Falcons tied the set at 19 on a 4-1 run. The Bulls took a late 23-22 lead off a Trebichavska kill, but the Falcons closed the set on a 3-0 run.
At the media timeout in the third set, the Bulls led 15-11. Up 17-13, the Falcons called a timeout, which was effective as they tied the set at 17 on a 4-0 run. With the Bulls up 20-19, but the Falcons rattled off four straight points to go up 23-20. The Falcons won the set to complete the sweep, 25-22. UB hit .207 with 11 kills, but Bowling Green finished with 15 kills and an attack percentage of .294.
The Bulls will close the regular season on Wednesday at Akron at 6 p.m.
