Bulls Compete In NCAA Northeast Championships

BRONX, N.Y. – The Buffalo men's and women's cross country team competed in the NCAA Northeast Championships on Friday afternoon at Van Cortlandt Park. The men entered the competition ranked 15th in the Northeast region, running their first 10k race of the season, with the women unranked, running a familiar distance of 6 kilometers.
The men placed 21 of 35 teams in their 10k race, with 590 points. Sophomore Matt Gensel led the way for the Buffalo men, finishing 74th with a time of 30:54.6. Seniors William Marchant (107th, 31:29.6) and Evan Hilbert (124th, 31:43.7) placed next for the Bulls, with Noah Brightman (135th, 31:25.8) and Alex Hislop (150th, 32:07.3) rounding out the Buffalo top five.
On the women's side, the Bulls finished 23rd of 37 teams with 679 points. Freshman Aleksandra Szulska was the first to place for the Bulls, completing the 6k course in 21:07.6 and finishing 64th of 264 total runners. The next four finishers for Buffalo all finished within a minute of each other, with Bronagh Cassidy placing 135th (22:11.1), Lacey Danilovitz finishing 143rd (22:17.5), Vassi Klock placing 167th (22:38.1) and Brianna Carter finishing 181st (22:55.5).
