Bulls Hit the Road for Tuesday Night Slate Against the Miami (OH) RedHawks

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (8-7, 2-0 MAC) will duke it out against the Miami (OH) RedHawks (6-9, 0-2 MAC) on Tuesday evening at Millett Hall. The game will tip-off at 7 p.m. on ESPN+ with Josh Whetzel on the radio call. You can listen to the game on 1520 AM (Buffalo)/1280 AM (Rochester) or online with the Varsity App.
The Bulls are coming off a solid 80-62 win over the Northern Illinois Huskies on Saturday afternoon. With the win the Bulls improved to 2-0 in conference play for the sixth time in program history, the first since the 2018-19 season. Curtis Jones had a game-high 19 points with five rebounds. LaQuill Hardnett nearly recorded another double-double, scoring nine points ang hauling in 12 rebounds.
Buffalo improved to 7-1 at home this season and average 86.8 points per game in Alumni Arena. They're also 7-0 when they score at least 80 points.
The matchup between the Bulls and RedHawks will be the 54th all-time meeting. Miami (OH) leads the series, 27-26. The Bulls are 10-14 on the road against the RedHawks.
The Miami RedHawks are 6-9 on the season and 0-2 in MAC play. They're coming off a tough 69-66 loss to preseason MAC favorite Kent State on Saturday. The RedHawks have three players averaging double figure points. Mekhi Lairy leads the team in points (17.3 ppg) with Morgan Safford (15.7 ppg), and Anderson Mirambeaux (12.5 ppg) behind. Safford leads the team with 5.9 rebounds per game. As a team, Miami is third in the MAC in steals per game at 7.40.
With a win over the RedHawks, Buffalo will start 3-0 in conference play for the fourth time. The other seasons they started 3-0 came in 2009-10, 17-18, and 18-19.
After Tuesday, the Bulls will travel to Mount Pleasant, Mich. for a 4:30 p.m. tip against Central Michigan on Saturday, Jan. 14.
