Bulls Welcome NIU to Alumni Arena for Saturday MACtion

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (7-7, 1-0 MAC) will battle the Northern Illinois Huskies (4-10, 0-1 MAC) on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Arena. The game will tip-off at noon on ESPN+ with the women's team playing Central Michigan at 2:30 p.m.
The Bulls are coming off a massive 75-72 win over Ohio to start conference play. LaQuill Hardnett recorded his third double-double of the season, scoring 15 points while grabbing an absurd 16 rebounds. Curtis Jones scored 20 points for the fifth time on the year.
Buffalo is 6-1 at home this season and average 87.7 points per game in Alumni Arena. They're also 6-0 when they score at least 80 points.
This marks the 40th meeting between the Bulls and Huskies with the Bulls leading the series, 23-16. Buffalo has won the last three meetings and are 15-6 at home against NIU.
The NIU Huskies come into the game with a 4-10 overall record and 0-1 in MAC play. They traveled to Buffalo after at 76-51 loss at Akron on Jan. 3. The Huskies have three players averaging double figure points. Keshawn Williams leads the team in points (18.8 ppg) with David Coit (13.6 ppg), and Zarique Nutter (10.0 ppg) behind. Nutter leads the team with 5.2 rpg. NIU is 2-7 in road games while averaging 61.9 points per game away from DeKalb, Ill.
After Saturday, the Bulls will hit the road for the first time for conference play on Tuesday, Jan. 8 as they play Miami (OH).
