Bulls Finish Regular Season at Penn State

UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – The University at Buffalo track and field team completed their regular season on Friday evening as they competed at the Jim Thorpe Invitational hosted by Penn State University.

ON THE TRACK
Emma Seiders finished second in the 400-meter dash in a time of 58.65-seconds. Aubrey Cluck was the lone competitor in the 800-meter run and crossed the line in 2:24.30. Three Bulls competed in the 100-meter hurdles, and all three improved their season-best marks. Christina Wende (14.40-seconds) finished in second place, Lydia Lanski (14.60-seconds) was just behind Wende for third, and Kelsey Shapiro placed sixth in 16.30-seconds. In the men's 100-meter dash, Justin Kleppel set a new season-best time of 11.09-seconds, good for third place. Dante Haynes finished sixth in 11.31-seconds as Dylan Schihl finished in 11.42-seconds for eighth place. Elijah Kerner won the men's 200-meter dash in 22.45-seconds. Chineme Ononiwu won the 110-meter hurdles in 14.65-seconds, a new season-best. Kyle Wayman finished just behind Ononiwu for second place in 15.20-seconds.

IN THE FIELD
Samantha Spinella finished in second place in the long jump with a distance of 5.38-meters. The Bulls would sweep the women's shot put with Molly McCreedy (14.72-meters), Rachel Donner (13.33-meters) and Kiara McDowell (11.86-meters) finishing 1-2-3, respectively. Aiden Zerkowski placed fourth in the men's high jump with a height of 1.85-meters. Jonathan Surdej finished fifth in the men's shot put with a toss of 16.93-meters. Mark Przybocki finished eighth (14.56-meters) with Quinn Smith placing 11^th with 13.73-meters. Caleb Nickens finished fifth in the hammer throw with a distance of 57.21-meters. Rounding out the competition was Danil Chernov in the men's javelin throw. He finished fifth with a throw of 52.70-meters.

NEXT UP
The Bulls will travel to Kalamazoo, Mich. for the 2022 Mid-American Conference Championships hosted by Western Michigan University. The championships will begin on Thursday, May 12 and run through Saturday, May 14.
