Track and Field are Victorious at UB Team Invitational

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo track and field team hosted the UB Team Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Both the men's and women's teams took home victories. The men's team scored 274 points good for first out of five programs, as the women scored 272 points placing first of seven teams. After the conclusion of all events, the Bulls honored their seniors along with participating school seniors.
ON THE TRACK
Priscilla Faa was hot out of the gate as she won the 200-meter dash in 24.66 seconds, improving her season-best time. Emma Seiders follow Faa's footsteps as she went on to win the 400-meter dash in 58.33-seconds. Riley Jones and Anya Schmitt would finish one-two in the 1,500-meter run. Jones finishing in 4:32.06 with Schmitt crossing the line in 4:42.43. Jones would follow her performance with a second place finish in the 5,000-meter run (18:27.94). Lydia Lanski won the 100-meter hurdles in 14.88-seconds. Luise Hansen was right behind for second (15.96-seconds).
Chineme Ononiwu continued his dominants in the sprints as he was the first collegiate finisher in the 100-meter dash (11.06-seconds). In the men's 800-meter run, five Bulls took the top-five spots with Cal Puskar, Johann Matzal, Evan Hilbert, Ryan Buzby, and Patrick Hazlitt finishing 1-2-3-4-5, respectively. The Bulls ran away from the competition in the 1,500-meter run with Thomas Flannery, Alex Hislop, Scott Loforte, and Michael Neeson finishing 1-2-3-4.
IN THE FIELD
Kelsey Shapiro won the long jump (5.33-meters). In the triple jump, four Bulls would take the top-four positions; Emily Tait (first, 11.78-meters), Alison Wojciechowski (second, 11.29-meters), Nisa Raqib (third, 11.13-meters), Naiomi Meran (fourth, 11.05-meters). In throws, the Bulls had a dominant performance in the shot put as Molly McCreedy (second, 15.76-meters), Rachel Donner (third, 13.95-meters), and Kiara McDowell (fourth, 11.73-meters). McCreedy and Donnor would finish first and second in the discus.
In the men's shot put, the Bulls had the top-four collegiate finishers. Jonathan Surdej remained on top fo the Bulls (17.35-meters) with Quinn Smith (14.95-meters), Mark Przybocki (14.81-meters), and Michael Wolford (14.43-meters) finishing right behind. Alex McNulty had an outstanding performance in the javelin as he threw for a distance of 54.73-meters.

The Bulls will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. for the Penn Relays hosted by the University of Pennsylvania. The invite will run from Thursday, April 28 through Saturday, April 30.
