
Bulls Fall To Red-Hot Rockets, 92-76

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team had their nine-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday night as the visiting Toledo Rockets shot 60% from three in the first half, leading to a 92-76 deficit for the Bulls in front of 5,470 fans at Alumni Arena. The Bulls are now 19-9 on the season and 13-5 in conference play.
Toledo, who clinched a share of the MAC regular season title with the win, shot just under 56% from the floor in the opening half and went 6-of-10 from three-point range. The Rockets quickly opened up a 27-13 lead just under eight minutes into the contest. The Rockets led by as many as 19 in the first half, but a buzzer-beating three from Ronaldo Segu sent UB into the break, trailing 46-32.
The second half began with some solid play from David Skogman, who had a thunderous dunk and a few blocks, but the Bulls were unable to cut into the Toledo lead. The Rockets extended the advantage to 24 in the second half, their largest of the game, and the Bulls couldn't get any closer than 14.
Segu led the Bulls with 20 points, one of four players in double figures. The senior added five rebounds and five assists. Jeenathan Williams finished with 18 points, while Maceo Jack had 11 and Josh Mballa added 11 points and 10 rebounds for the double-double.
Skogman had seven points, four rebounds, two blocks, and an assist. Senior Keishawn Brewton had three points off the bench, while Curtis Jones finished with two points and four boards, and Brock Bertram added two points and two rebounds. LaQuill Hardnett didn't score, but pulled down six boards.
The Bulls held a narrow 37-36 advantage on the boards, but turned it over 11 times, including eight in the first half.
For the game, the Rockets shot 53.1% from the floor and 52.9% from three, going 9-of-17. Toledo also got to the line 19 times, opposed to just six trips for the Bulls.
Following the game, the Bulls held senior night ceremonies, honoring Williams, Segu, Mballa, Jack, and Brewton.
UB will close out the regular season on Friday night at Kent State. The game will tip off at 6pm on ESPNU.
