
Bulls Begin Final Road Swing on Saturday at Kent State

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo women's basketball team concludes play in the month of February with a game at Kent State on Saturday at 1pm. It is the first of back-to-back road contests to conclude the away portion of the regular season schedule.
The game will be streamed on ESPN3 with Tyler Henry (play-by-play) and Jack Berney (color) announcing and can be heard on the radio on 1400 AM or on the Varsity Network with Matt Mattia on the call.
This is the 43rd overall meeting between Buffalo and Kent State, with the Golden Flashes owning the 30-22 series edge. The Bulls are 8-3 in their last 11 meetings with the Golden Flashes, most recently a 65-62 victory at Alumni Arena on January 17.
Buffalo is 19-8 overall and 13-4 in league play after defeating Kent State 79-65 on Wednesday. With the win, the Bulls clinched a spot in the upcoming Mid-American Conference Tournament. Freshman Georgia Woolley led all scorers with 27 points to go with eight rebounds and four assists. Junior Dyaisha Fair scored 21 points while adding five rebounds and four assists and graduate forward Summer Hemphill recorded a monster double-double with 19 points and 19 rebounds.
Fair leads the Bulls and ranks fourth in the nation in scoring at 23.7 points per game. Hemphill is averaging just under a double-double with 13.6 points and 9.9 rebounds per game while Woolley has scored in double figures in 21 of the last 22 games and is averaging 14.5 points per game, the best amongst all rookies in the league. Buffalo is distributing the basketball at an excellent clip, averaging 15.1 assists per game and a 1.1 assist-to-turnover ratio, both ranking in the top 55 nationally. That leads to a potent offense which ranks 21st in the nation in scoring (75.4 ppg). The Bulls are ranked 77th in the latest NET rankings. They are also ranked 21st in the College Insider Mid-Major Top 25 poll.

The Golden Flashes are led offensively by Katie Shumate who is averaging 12.3 points and 3.8 rebounds per game. Nila Blackford (11.3 ppg, 9.3 rpg), Casey Santoro (11.0 ppg, 3.1 apg) and Lindsey Thall (11.0 ppg, 5.1 rpg) are also scoring in double figures. Kent State is 9-3 at home this season. The Golden Flashes are second in the MAC and rank 30th in the nation in three-point field goal percentage (35.6), while ranking in the top 35 nationally in three-point field goals made per game (8.2) and three-point field goals made (212). They have made eight or more triples 15 times this season. Kent State is fourth in the MAC in rebounding (38.5 rpg) and ranks 44th nationally with a +6.1 rebounding margin. They have tied or won the rebounding battle in 23 of 26 games this season.
