
Bulls Finish Day One of MAC Indoor Championships

KENT, Ohio – The University at Buffalo track and field team wrapped up day one of the Mid-American Conference Indoor Championships on Friday evening. The men's team is in fourth place with 20 points as the women's team is in 10th with seven.
Dustin Meyer had a remarkable performance in the pole vault stood on the podium to claim the bronze medal with a height of 4.81-meters/15'-09.25". Another Bull that had a podium finish was Scott Loforte in the 5,000-meter run. Loforte crossed the line in 14:28.48. His time moves him to third in program history.
In the women's pentathlon, Scilla Benussi gave the team 2-points as she finished seventh overall in a very competitive field. Christina Wende finished sixth in the long jump with a leap of 5.89-meters/19'-04.00" in a field of 20 competitors.
To end the evening, the men's distance medley relay team claimed the bronze medal. The squad of Alex Hislop, Fernando Sanchez, Evan Hilbert, and Thomas Flannery added to their collection as they finished in 9:55.16, a season-best by nearly 18-seconds.
SATURDAY FINALS QUALIFIERS
Qualifying for Saturday's finals heats are Antoinette Miller (60-meter dash), Jermaine Ewers (60-meter dash), Connor Lehr (400-meter dash), Aaron Essien (400-meter dash), Johann Matzal (800-meter run), Chineme Ononiwu (60-meter hurdles), and Kyle Wayman (60-meter hurdles).
