DEKALB, IL - The February Frenzy continues as the Bulls head to DeKalb, IL for the fifth of six games in 12 days and the first of two straight games against the Northern Illinois Huskies, the first time in Buffalo's Division I era they have played the same team in back to back games.
Buffalo won its seventh straight game on Tuesday night as a floater from Jeenathan Williams gave UB an 86-84 road victory at Miami (OH). Senior Josh Mballa finished with 23 points and 17 rebounds and he enters Thursday's game with the Huskies just four points shy of 1,000 for his career with the Bulls, which would make him the 26th in UB history to do it. He would be the fourth Buffalo player to score 1,000 career points this season.
Northern Illinois also competed in a one possession game on Tuesday night, dropping a 74-72 contest at Eastern Michigan, its third straight one possession game. NIU head coach Rashon Burno spent six seasons as an assistant for former Buffalo head coach Bobby Hurley at Arizona State.
Buffalo holds a 21-16 lead in the all-time series with Northern Illinois. The two teams met just once last season, a resounding 102-74 victory for the Bulls in DeKalb. Mballa led the Bulls with 21 points and 12 rebounds.
