
Bulls Continue to Improve Heading into MAC Championships

AKRON, Ohio – The University at Buffalo track and field team competed at the Al Campbell Invitational on Friday evening. The meet, hosted by the University of Akron, wrapped up the 2022 indoor regular season as next weekend the Mid-American Conference will have their conference championships.
THE TRACK
Making it to the 60-meter dash finals was Kiaya Franklin who finished in 7.84-seconds, good for seventh place. On the men's side of the event, Justin Kleppel finished in 7.14-seconds as Dylan Schihl crossed the line in 7.28-seconds, good for third and sixth, respectively.
Lydia Lanski placed second in the 60-meter hurdles in 9.22-seconds. Fernando Sanchez came up with a huge win the 400-meter dash with a winning time of 49.65-seconds, setting a new personal record. Riley Jones ran a strong women's mile as she finished seventh of 19 in 5:00.32. Thomas Flannery continued his dominance as he won the mile in 4:08.16. Teammate Alex Hislop claimed fourth place in 4:17.35. Transfer Anya Schmitt claimed second place in the women's 3,000-meter run in 10:03.54, setting a new UB personal record. Lily Meek would go on and finish in fifth place in 10:27.61.
THE FIELD
Molly McCreedy and Rachel Donner game the one-two punch in the shot put as McCreedy won the event with a toss of 15.41-meters, moving to seventh in UB history. Donner claimed second with a heave of 14.28-meters. On the men's side of the event, Jonathan Surdej was the best collegiate finisher with a toss of 16.99-meters. Mark Przybocki finished in fourth with 15.25-meters, as Quinn Smith claimed sixth with 14.62-meters.
Asia Hoyte won the women's weight throw by nearly two full meters with a hurl of 17.95-meters. Imahni Sinclair finished third with 15.61-meters with Claire Koepnick finishing in fifth with 14.46-meters. Andrew Pietrantoni threw for 16.45-meters, good for fourth place.
