
Bulls Play Tulane in Game One of the Holiday Hoopsgiving

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (5-4, 0-0 MAC) will play the Tulane Green Wave (5-3, 0-0 AAC) on Saturday morning as part of this year's Holiday Hoopsgiving. The event will take place in Atlanta, Ga. with tip-off at 11:30 a.m. in State Farm Arena. The game between the Bulls and Green Wave will not be streamed, be sure to listen to Josh Whetzel on The Varsity app or 1520 AM Buffalo/1280 AM Rochester.
Following the game between Buffalo and Tulane, Wake Forest will play LSU (2 p.m., ESPNU), Memphis battles Auburn (5 p.m., ESPN2), with Clemson and Loyola Chicago (7:30 p.m., ACCN) closing the night.
The Bulls are coming off a 91-53 win against St. John Fisher to give the Bulls four consecutive wins on the season. In the win, freshman Devin Ceaser led the team with a career-high 17 points. The Bulls finished with a season-high 27 assists on the with Kidtrell Blocker and Armoni Foster having six apiece.
Buffalo forced 25 St. John Fisher turnovers, 19 of which were steals. Buffalo is now 15th in the country in
steals per game, averaging 10.1. Zid Powell and Curtis Jones both average 2.00 steals per game, good for third in the MAC. As a team, Buffalo is 31st in the nation in steals, averaging 17.56 per game.
The Bulls are ninth in the nation in fastbreak points, averaging 19.20 per game. This mark is the best in the MAC. Buffalo had 47 fastbreak points against the Cardinals on Tuesday evening.
All-time, UB is 1-2 against Tulane. The most recent matchup came on Nov. 29, 2007, where Buffalo won 65-51 in Alumni Arena. On Dec. 6, 2006, Tulane won at home, 80-63. Their first meeting was over 40 years ago as Tulane ran away with an 83-43 victory in New Orleans on Jan. 7, 1982.
After Saturday, the Bulls will travel to Morgantown, W.Va. to play the West Virginia Mountaineers on Sunday, Dec. 18.
