Bulls Clash with Rival St. Bonaventure

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team (3-4, 0-0 MAC) will play the St. Bonaventure Bonnies (5-2, 0-0 Atlantic 10) on Saturday afternoon. Buffalo will face back-to-back Big 4 rivals after defeating Canisius last Sunday. The game can be watched on ESPN+ with tip-off at 2:30 p.m.
The Bulls are coming off an 86-66 win against Canisius to give the Bulls back-to-back wins for the first time this season. In the win, sophomore guard Curtis Jones finished with 22 points. Jones has scored 20+ points in three straight games. The last Bull to do so was C.J. Massinburg in 2018-19. Bulls have had at least one 20-point scorer in the last four games. Canisius was held to 8-for-36 (.222) from beyond the arc in the game, as Buffalo now leads the MAC in three-point percentage defense at .299.
St. Bonaventure is fresh off a win against Middle Tennessee on Wednesday evening. They have now won four in a row including a win against Notre Dame.
The Bulls are 34th in the nation in fastbreak points, averaging 15.88 per game. This mark is the best in the MAC. Zid Powell and Jones are third and fourth in the MAC with 2.14 and 2.00 steals per game, respectively. Malique Jacobs of Kent State leads the MAC, averaging 3.83 per game.
All-time, UB is 11-22 against the Atlantic 10. This will be their second Atlantic 10 opponent this season as they defeated George Mason in their third game of the Paradise Jam, 82-74. St. Bonaventure leads the all-time series, 11-5. The first match up between the programs came in the 1915-16 season where Buffalo won 53-18 on the road.
After Saturday, the Bulls will host St. John Fisher on Tuesday, Dec. 6 at 6 p.m.
