Bulls Victorious Against Daemen in Sunday Exhibition

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team opened the 2022-23 season against the Daemen Wildcats in an exhibition game Sunday afternoon. Bulls came away with a 95-66 win in its exhibition opener against Daemen. The Bulls scored 56 points in the second half as all 12 healthy players took the court for UB.
The Bulls started returner Cutis Jones along with newcomers Zid Powell, Armoni Foster, Jonnivius Smith, and Isaiah Adams. Buffalo led for 36:43 of the game compared to Daemen's 3:16.
Buffalo was hot out of the gate scoring on their first three possessions courtesy of Smith and Foster. With the Bulls up 18-9, all eight baskets by the Bulls were all scores by newcomers.
The Wildcats' largest lead was 4 points when the led 34-30 with just over two and a half minutes left in the opening half as they went on a 5-0 run. The Bulls would take a narrow three-point lead at the half up 39-36 with C. Jones making a layup at the buzzer.
The Bulls opened the second half on scoring frenzy. The Bull had a 16-0 run forcing Daemen to call a timeout. Foster, Powell, C. Jones, and Smith led the team on the run.
The rest of the half, the Bulls dominated scoring 28 points in the paint. The team finished with a whopping 58 points in the paint with Daemen finishing with 28.
Foster led all players with four steals as UB finished with 14.
C. Jones finished the game with a game-high 16 points. Powell finished with 14 as Devin Ceaser (13) and Isaac Jack (10) were the other Bulls to finish in double figures.
The Bulls outrebounded the Wildcats, 36-27. Powell had a game-high seven rebounds along with eight assists. Adams closed out the game with six boards as Smith finished with five.
The team will open the regular season on Monday, Nov. 7 against the Colgate Raiders in Alumni Arena at 7 p.m.
