Akbas Competes at ITA Super Regionals

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – University at Buffalo women's tennis fifth year senior Basak Akbas represented the Bulls at the ITA Super Regionals on Friday.
The field at the super regional is comprised of some of the top players in the entire Northeast Region. In her first singles match Akbas took on Shiori Ito, a sophomore from Syracuse University, who has a 6-1 singles record this fall. Akbas took an early lead in the first set but ultimately came up short in set one, 6-4 before dropping the second set 6-2. She then played a second match against Mouna Bouzgarrou of St. John's in the back draw where she fell 7-5, 6-1.
Akbas and the Bulls return to action November 4-6 as they host the UB Invite at the Miller Tennis Center.
