Bulls Sweep Sunday Action

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY – The University at Buffalo women's tennis team won both of their matches on Saturday defeating Saint Francis 6-1 before sweeping Binghamton 7-0.
The Bulls first matched up with the Red Flash where they took the early doubles point with wins at all three positions. Fifth year Pia Schwarz and Azra Deniz Comlek won 6-2 at first doubles, Ambre Amat and Deanne Choo won 6-3 at second singles and Gabriella Akopyan and Basak Akbas cruised to a 6-1 win at three.
Akbas and Choo won a hard-fought three-set match at first and third singles. Akopyan won 6-2, 7-5 at fourth singles, Amat won 6-3, 6-2 at fifth singles and Lolina Schietekat Sedas won 6-2, 6-0 at sixth.
In the night match against Binghamton, Akbas and Akopyan won and Amat and Choo won 6-1 at second and third doubles, respectively.
The Bulls again rolled through singles as Schwars won at one, 6-2, 6-1. Comlek had a 6-4, 6-2 win at two and Choo completed the 6-3, 6-0 victory at three. Akopyan won 6-2, 6-4 at four, while Amat dropped just two games in a 6-2, 6-0 win at five. Mariana Carvajal Torres completed the sweep with a 6-2 ,6-1 win at six.
Akbas continues her season at the ITA Super Regionals in New Haven, CT this weekend before Buffalo concludes the fall season in two weeks when the Bulls host the UB Fall Invite beginning on November 4.
