
Bulls Fall At League-Leading Toledo

TOLEDO, OH – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team had its four-game winning streak snapped on Tuesday night as the Bulls fell on the road at Toledo, 86-75. The victory was the seventh straight for the Rockets, while the Bulls fell to 10-7 and 4-3 with the loss.
The two teams played an even first half as the squads were tied at 41-41 at the break, but the Rockets outscored the Bulls 45-34 in the second half. Toledo shot 63.0% from the floor in the second half, while going to the line 15 times, making 10 of them. UB had just four opportunities from the free throw line in the second half and overall shot 35.1% from the floor.
The game was tight for much of the first half with little separation between the two teams. A driving layup from Keishawn Brewton started a quick 4-0 run and the Bulls took their largest lead of the night at 37-30 with 3:11 left on two free throws from Jeenathan Williams. The Rockets responded by regaining the lead, but two late free throws from Ronaldo Segu sent the game into the break tied.
A pair of three pointers from freshman Curtis Jones put the Bulls back ahead 59-57 with 11:48 left and a step back three from Segu gave UB its final lead of the night at 62-61 with 10:32 remaining. From there, Toledo went on a 13-0 run, taking the lead for good.
Williams had another strong night as he finished with a team-high 24 points. Senior Josh Mballa notched a double-double with 11 points and 13 rebounds, including nine offensive boards. Segu also finished with 11 points.
Maceo Jack had nine points and a career high eight rebounds, while Brewton also added nine points. Jones chipped in six off the bench, while adding four rebounds.
David Skogman had three points and five boards, while Lucas Saleh added a pair of late points.
The Bulls held a 43-37 advantage on the glass, including 16 offensive rebounds.
Buffalo returns to Alumni Arena on Friday night when the Bulls host Ohio in a rematch of the MAC Championship game. The game will tip at 7:00 pm and air on ESPNU.
