
Burke Qualifies For Eugene As Bulls Wrap Up Competition At East Preliminaries

JACKSONVILLE, FL – Junior Brandon Burke kept his season alive on Friday afternoon as he advanced to Eugene, OR for the NCAA Championships in the high jump, setting a new facility record of 2.19m. Fifth-year student-athlete Sam Wray also competed on Friday in the discus.
Burke was one of just three individuals to clear every height without missing, capped off at 2.19m where he was one of eight student-athletes to clear that height. After passing at the opening height of 2.01m, Burke then cleared heights of 2.06m, 2.11m, and 2.16m before the final clearance at 2.19m.
He joined Allen Gordon of Ole Miss and JuVaughn Harrison as the three individuals to not miss on Friday afternoon.
In the men's discus Wray hit on his first throw of 45.60m, but then fouled on his final two attempts, finishing in 15th place in his flight.
The NCAA Championships get underway on Wednesday, June 9. The high jump competition is scheduled to take place on Friday, Jun 11 at 4:30 pm PT.
