Bulls Fall To Ball State 6-3 on Senior Day

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo softball team dropped its series opener against Ball State 6-3 on Senior Day at Nan Harvey Field on Friday afternoon.
Ball State would strike first as the Cardinals led off the top of the second with a solo home run and added another run on an RBI single to take a 2-0 lead but Ally Marcano escaped a bases loaded jam to limit the damage and end the half inning.
The Bulls answered in the bottom of the inning as Anna Aguon smacked an RBI double down the right field line to cut the lead to one. Buffalo would tie the game on a wild pitch and then Alicia Peters lined an RBI single up the middle to give UB a 3-2 lead and force a Ball State pitching change.
The Cardinals broke the game open in the top of the fifth as they scored four runs on three hits to take a 6-3 lead and that would be all they would need as the Bulls were unable to plate another run.
The series continues with a doubleheader on Saturday, beginning at 1pm.
