Bulls Wrap Up Homestand Against Northern Illinois This Weekend

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo softball team concludes their homestand with a four-game series against Northern Illinois at Nan Harvey Field this weekend.
The weekend will begin with a 3pm game on Friday followed by a doubleheader at 1pm/3pm on Saturday. The weekend will conclude with a 12pm game on Sunday.
The Bulls are coming off a midweek doubleheader split against Kent State on Wednesday. Freshman Rachel Steffan led UB with three RBI in a 4-2 win in game one before the Bulls blasted a single-game program record five home runs in a 7-2 victory in game two. Senior Anna Aguon became the program's new career leader with 97 runs scored. The Bulls have hit a single-season record 45 home runs off the bats of nine different players.
Buffalo is being led at the plate by Aguon who owns a .362 batting average to go with a team-best 42 hits, eight doubles, nine home runs and a team-best 25 RBI and 28 runs scored, while also recording a .681 slugging percentage and .471 on base percentage. Steffan is batting .314 with 33 hits, four doubles, four home runs, 19 RBI and 20 runs scored while recording a .464 on base percentage and junior Alexis Matheney is batting is batting .287 with 33 hits, four doubles, six home runs, 24 RBI and 24 runs scored. Graduate student Ally Marcano leads UB in the circle with a 6-10 overall record, 4.93 ERA and 67 strikeouts in 86.2 innings of work. Sophomore Alexis Lucyshyn owns a 5-6 overall record and has a 5.25 ERA with 36 strikeouts in 66.2 innings pitched.
Northern Illinois enters the weekend with a 15-25 overall record and a 9-15 league mark after taking three of four games against Akron over the weekend. The Huskies are led offensively by Katie Keller who is batting .377 with 43 hits, 16 doubles, six home runs, 28 RBI and 27 runs scored while recording a .693 slugging and .493 on base percentage. Bianca Barone is batting .311 with a 32 hits, eight doubles, two home runs, 25 RBI and 17 runs scored. Claire Norred leads Northern Illinois in the circle, compiling an 8-12 overall record with a 3.58 ERA and 77 strikeouts in 119.1 innings of work.
Following weekend play, Buffalo will take their last road trip of the year to Athens, Ohio for a four-game series with the Ohio Bobcats beginning Friday, May 7 at 3pm.
