
Bulls Defend Home Turf at UB Invitational

BUFFALO, N.Y. β The University at Buffalo track and field team hosted the UB Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Bulls had a total of 14 college across New York and Ohio attend this year's invite. The men's team would finish first with a total of 235 points. The women's team also finished in first with a total of 245 points.

Β In a tough competition, Caleb Nickens would finish in second place in the men's hammer throw with a toss of 56.49-meters.

The Bulls would finish 1-2-3 in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase. Making their season debut in the event was Thomas Flannery (9:16.67), Benjamin Cardamone (9:38.00) and William Marchant (9:55.35).

In a very exciting race, UB would finish first and second in the women's 4x100-meter relay. The Bulls would push each other to the end as Travasia Singletary, Antoinette Miller, Amy Villarini and Priscilla Faa would take first in 46.98-seconds. Christina Wende, Samantha Spinella, Jalasia Demember and Kaylah Britt finished in second place in a time of 48.40-seconds.

In the women's 1,500-meter run, Riley Jones would win the event in a time of 4:38.53. She would take first place out of a total of 41 runners.

Jaron Meyer and Jeremy Lissade finished in first and second in the men's 100-meter dash. Meyer finished in 11.03-seconds with Lissade on his heels finishing in 11.25-seconds. On the women's side, Faa would win the event in 12.44-seconds with Singletary claiming second in 12.71-seconds.

Samantha Spinella won the women's long jump with a jump of 5.67-meters narrowly beating her teammate Wende with a leap of 5.62-meters.

Wende would also go on to win a highly contested triple jump with a leap of 11.72-meters. She almost beat the runner-up by a full meter.

The relay teams would have a day as Jaron Meyer, Elijah Kerner, Dante Haynes and Jeremy Lissade would win the 4x400-meter relay in 3:22.94. The team of Michael Wolford, Patrick Hazlitt, Christopher Nowak and Evan Hilbert finished right behind in 3:32.77.
