
Track & Field Dominate UB Twilight Invitational on Senior Day

BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo track and field team finished their regular season on Friday evening as they hosted the UB Twilight Invitational on Senior Day. The Bulls fought through strong winds all day as both squads won as the men earned 273 points and the women's team finished with 296 points.
In the men's discus, Sam Wray won the event with a toss of 50.07-meters. Freshman Quinn Smith finished second with a toss of 47.03-meters. Molly McCreedy won the women's discus with a top measurement of 42.07-meters. Rachel Donnner claimed second place with a toss of 38.99-meters.
Jacob Liberati would win the long jump with a jump of 6.66-meters. Nicholas Villanueva claimed third with a leap of 5.92-meters.
In the men's pole vault, Dustin Meyer won with a height of 4.65-meters.
Riley Jones finished in second place in the women's 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:43.50. Sophomore Alexia Hecico finished in a time of 4:56.60 for sixth place.
In a field of 32 runners, William Hilbert ran a fast 5,000-meter run with a winning time of 14:23.14. A herd of Bulls followed Hilbert as Scott Loforte finished in third (14:37.25), Benjamin Cardamone in fourth (14:38.48), Ryan Buzby in fifth (14:41.05) and Armani Merlino in sixth place (14:42.91).
Christina Wende would win two events on Friday evening. Running into a tough wind, she would win the 100-meter hurdles in 15.16-seconds. In the long jump, Wende would win by .30-meters with a leap of 5.51-meters.
