
Track and Field Finish Regular Season Saturday Afternoon

GENESEO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo track and field team traveled down Routes 20 and 63 for the Geneseo May Meet on Saturday afternoon. Only a handful of Bulls made the trip in preparation for the Mid-American Conference Championships next week.
Two Bulls competed in the men's 3,000-meter steeplechase where Sean O'Brien and Alex Hislop would finish first and second, respectively. O'Brien finished in a time of 9:28.56 as Hislop crossed the line in 9:51.72.
Naiomi Meran had herself a day in the sand pit as she won the triple jump with a leap of 11.15-meters. In the long jump she placed third with a jump of 5.25-meters.
Jade Dennis won the 800-meter dash in a time of 2:15.19.
In throwing events, the Bulls would come out victorious in a trio of events: the men's shot put, discus throw, and hammer throw. Jonathan Surdej won the men's shot put with a toss of 17.43-meters, almost 3.5-meters further than the runner-up. Sam Wray won the discus with a throw of 52.86-meters setting a new Geneseo facility record. Caleb Nickens had a dominant performance in the hammer throw as he nearly won by seven full meters. Nickens toss measured at 58.19-meters.
