Bulls Drop Series Opener at Miami (OH), 3-0

OXFORD, OH – The University at Buffalo softball team dropped its series opener at Miami (OH) 3-0 on Friday afternoon.
The RedHawks struck first on an RBI single in the bottom of the first inning to take an early 1-0 lead.
Miami would add to their lead on a two-run home run in the bottom of the fourth to go up 3-0 but Alexis Lucyshyn responded with back-to-back strikeouts and a groundout to end the inning and limit the damage.
Buffalo recorded their lone hit of the game in the top of the seventh inning as Anna Aguon led off with a single to left field but that would be all they would muster as the next three batters were retired in order.
Courtney Vierstra got the win for Miami, striking out 17 batters in a complete gave effort. Lucyshyn gave up three runs on five hits while striking out four in 4.2 innings of work. Ally Marcano pitched 1.1 innings of one hit relief.
The Bulls return to action tomorrow with a doubleheader beginning at 1pm.
