
Bulls Drop Season Finale To Bowling Green, 3-0

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo volleyball team closed out the regular season on Saturday afternoon as the Bulls fell to the regular season MAC Champions, Bowling Green, 3-0.
The Falcons took the contest 25-16, 25-7, 26-24 as BG hit .340 for the match, opposed to .147 for the Bulls. After Bowling Green took the first two sets comfortably, the Bulls found some fight in the third.
Bowling Green opened the third on a 9-1 run, but the Bulls slowly crept back in. With the Falcons leading 15-9, the Bulls scored five straight points to pull within, 15-14 as Bowling Green called time out. BG continued to lead 20-18 when the Bulls scored the next three points, including a pair of kills from freshman Emma Gielas as the Bulls went ahead 21-20. Bowling Green would regain the 24-22 lead but kills from Gielas and senior Lexi Nordmann kept the match alive, tying it at 24-24, however Bowling Green would score the final two points for the win. In the third set alone, sophomore Abby Leigh had six kills for the Bulls.
Gielas and fellow freshman Milla Malik led the Bulls with nine kills each, while Nordmann had seven kills on her Senior Day.
Junior Kyndal Bacon had 24 assists, while Jenna Sonnenberg chipped in five.
Defensively, Sonnenberg had a team-high 14 digs and Monika Simkova added nine, while Malik and Bacon each had seven. UB finished with 4.0 total blocks, led by two each from Nordmann, Gielas, and sophomore Courtney Okwara.
UB concludes the season with a 4-18 record. Malik will end the season fifth in school history for kills per set with 3.77, while her 4.09 points per set are also fifth in a single season.
Nordmann will finish her two-year Buffalo career with a .332 hitting percentage, fifth in school history.
