Bulls Drop Series Finale at Akron

AKRON, OH – The University at Buffalo softball team dropped the series finale at Akron 4-2 on Sunday afternoon at Jackson Field.
The Zips would strike first in the bottom of the game as Madison Dudek blasted a two run home run to left field to give Akron a 2-0 lead.
The Bulls would get on the board in the top of the third on an RBI single from Anna Aguon to cut the lead to 2-1 but Akron answered with two runs on two hits in the bottom of the inning to take a 4-1 lead.
The Buffalo bats would cool as UB would not record another hit until the top of the seventh inning as singles by Jenna Richmond and Aguon and a walk by Rachel Steffan loaded the bases and Alexis Lucyshyn capitalized with an RBI single to center field to cut the lead to two but the Bulls were unable to plate another run.
Sophomore Madelyn Hickingbottom gave up three runs on three hits and struck out two batters in two innings of work while freshman Julia Tarantino gave up just one run and struck out four in four innings of relief.
The Bulls return to Buffalo next weekend to host Toledo in the home opener at Nan Harvey Field.
