
Bulls Host Toledo in Home Opener This Weekend

BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo softball team hosts Toledo in a four-game series at Nan Harvey Field this weekend.
Weather permitting, the weekend will begin with a 3pm game on Friday followed by a doubleheader at 1pm/3pm on Saturday. The weekend will conclude with a 12pm game on Sunday.
The Bulls are coming off a series split at Akron to open conference play. The Bulls won the series opener 4-0 and split the Saturday doubleheader with a 7-2 win in game two before dropping the series finale on Sunday.
Buffalo is being led at the plate by freshman Rachel Steffan who owns a .268 batting average to go along with 11 hits, two doubles, a home run, six RBI and seven runs scored, while recording a .466 slugging percentage. Senior Alicia Peters is a veteran presence at the plate as she is batting .267 with 12 hits, including two home runs, with four RBI and six runs scored while recording a .444 slugging percentage. Freshman Ally Sobaszek is also off to a good start, batting .278 with five hits and two runs scored. Graduate student Ally Marcano leads UB in the circle as she has a 3-5 overall record with a 5.75 ERA and has struck out 34 batters to just 20 walks in 40.2 innings of work.
Toledo enters the weekend series with an 11-9 overall record after dropping three of four games at Kent State to open MAC play last weekend. The Rockets are led offensively by Riley Mohr who is batting .517 with 15 hits, including four doubles and a home run, eight RBI and seven runs scored while recording a .828 slugging and .650 on base percentage. Dayna Denner is batting .383 with a team-best seven home runs, six doubles, 15 RBI and 12 runs scored while slugging .867. Erin Hunt leads Toledo in the circle with a 3.44 ERA and 86 strikeouts to just 27 walks in 77.1 innings of work across 14 appearances.
After the weekend series, the Bulls will open a six-game road trip, beginning April 2-4 at Western Michigan.
