
Bulls Open MAC Play at Akron

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo softball team will open MAC play this weekend with a four-game series at Akron's Lee R. Jackson Field.
The weekend will begin with a 3pm game on Friday followed by a doubleheader at 1pm/3pm on Saturday. The weekend will conclude with a 12pm game on Sunday.
The Bulls have had a week off after closing out the North Florida/Jacksonville Tournament (Mar. 5-7) with a pair of wins over North Florida and Florida A&M.
Buffalo is being led at the plate by senior Alicia Peters who owns a .303 batting average to go along with 10 hits, two doubles, two home runs, four RBI and five runs scored, while slugging .545. Freshman Rachel Steffan off to a great start in her first year in the blue and white as she is batting .290 with nine hits, a double, a home run, five RBI and seven runs scored, while recording a .465 on base percentage.
Akron enters the weekend series with a 1-11 overall record after dropping a pair of games each to Bradley and East Tennessee State at the Buccaneer Classic last weekend. The Zips are led offensively by Madison Dudek who is batting .222 with six hits, including three doubles, three RBI and two runs scored. Jaiden Bryant is batting .200 with five hits, an RBI and two runs scored. Lexie Petrof leads Akron in the circle with a 2.47 ERA, striking out eight batters while allowing just four walks in 11.1 innings of work.
After the weekend series, UB will return to Buffalo to host Toledo in their home opener at Nan Harvey Field, March 26-28.
