BUFFALO, NY - Following a lengthy break, the University at Buffalo men's basketball team will open Mid-American Conference play on Wednesday afternoon against the Miami (OH) RedHawks. This will be the first game for UB following an 11-day break after the game against UC-Irvine was postponed.
After opening conference play at home, the Bulls will then go on the road for four of their next five MAC contests. Buffalo was selected to win the Mid-American Conference in the preseason, earning 143 or 144 possible points. The RedHawks were picked seventh in the preseason poll, but the difference from fourth to seventh was just six points.
The Bulls defeated the RedHawks three times last season, including a 74-63 victory in the quarterfinals of the Mid-American Conference Tournament.
Buffalo is led in scoring by its preseason first-team All-MAC selection Jeenathan Williams who is averaging 18.4 points per game. Miami is led in scoring by its own preseason All-League selection Dae Dae Grant, who is averaging 16.1 points per game.
This will be Buffalo's 24th MAC opener. UB is 9-14 all-time in Mid-American Conference openers.
Following Wednesday's game, the Bulls are scheduled to have an extended break after games at Eastern Michigan (1/1) and Northern Illinois (1/4) were postponed.
