Turnovers Costly in Loss at Miami (OH)

Miami scored on a long touchdown pass on its first offensive play from scrimmage to quickly take a 7-0 lead. But the Bulls responded with a 75-yard drive, capped by a Dylan McDuffie 10-yard touchdown run, to tie the game, 7-7. It was the fifth straight game McDuffie scored at least one rushing touchdown.
The RedHawks jumped ahead, 17-7, early in the second quarter before the Bulls got on the board with a 24-yard field goal by Alex McNulty to cut the lead the seven.
The UB defense did its part on the ensuing possession to force a turnover on downs. However, on the very next play, a long pass down the field was intercepted by Miami. The RedHawks capitalized by driving 74 yards and scoring on a 27-yard touchdown run to lead 24-10 at the half.
A fumble by the Bulls on their first possession of the third quarter set up Miami inside the UB 10-yard line. The RedHawks scored two plays later to capture a 31-10 advantage.
Trailing, 38-10, the Bulls kept battling and Matt Myers connected with Quian Williams on a 20-yard touchdown pass to make a dent in the lead. Williams finished the game with nine catches for 104 yards.
McDuffie was the leading rusher in the game with 91 yards. Kevin Marks, Jr. was back in the lineup and rushed for 18 yards, becoming just the sixth player in program history to rush for 3,000 career yards.
McNulty had a milestone moment himself, becoming the first player in program history to make 100 consecutive extra points.
Cory Gross, Jr. led the defense with a career-high 13 tackles. James Patterson added nine tackles and a sack. True freshman Jibrahn Claude made his first career start at nickel and had six tackles, a forced fumble and made a nice open-field tackle on third down to force a Miami punt.
The Bulls will be back in action next Wednesday when they host Northern Illinois.
