
Bulls Return Home For Senior Weekend

BUFFALO, NY – Following four straight matches on the road, the University at Buffalo volleyball team returns to Alumni Arena this weekend for their final two home matches of the season as UB hosts Western Michigan in a pair of matches.
The first contest against the Broncos will be played on Friday at 6pm and the home finale will be on Saturday at 4pm. Following the match on Saturday, UB will honor seniors Page Beck, Kyndal Bacon, and Monika Simkova.
The Bulls are 11-14 on the year and 4-9 in league play after splitting matches last weekend against Eastern Michigan and Central Michigan. Sophomore Milla Malik continues to lead the Bulls offensively with 336 kills, averaging 3.43 per set. Two other Bulls are above the 200-kill mark as Courtney Okwara has 225 and Emma Gielas is at 216 after an extremely strong weekend. Freshman Mandy Leigh has 965 assists, averaging 9.85 per set.
Defensively, five Bulls have at least 200 digs, led by freshman Maria Futey who has 262. Leigh has 249 digs and Bacon has added 221. In the blocking department, Olivia DeBortoli has 1.02 digs per set, while Okwara is right behind her at 0.92 per set.
Western Michigan is 15-9 on the year and 8-5 in league play as the Broncos defeated Kent State 3-0 in their last match. That victory snapped a four-match losing streak for WMU. Maggie King leads Western Michigan with 331 kills, averaging 3.80 per set. Gielas' high school teammate Logan Case is Western Michigan's top setter, averaging 11.36 per set. On defense Mairead Boyle has 372 digs.
Both matches will air on ESPN3 for those unable to be in attendance. Admission for all volleyball matches is free and a face mask is required inside Alumni Arena.
