
Bulls Open Four-Game Homestand Against James Madison on Saturday

BUFFALO, NY – After a week in the Bahamas the University at Buffalo women's basketball team returns Alumni Arena to open a four-game home stand, beginning with a contest against the James Madison Dukes on Saturday at 2pm.
The game will be streamed on ESPN3 with Paul Peck (play-by-play) and Kevin Sylvester (color) announcing and can be heard on the radio on ESPN 1520AM or on the Varsity Network with Matt Mattia on the call.
Buffalo is coming a three-game stint at the Bad Boy Mowers Women's Battle 4 Atlantis Tournament at the Atlantis Resort in Paradise Island, Bahamas. The Bulls fell to No. 1 South Carolina and Oklahoma before capping off play with a big win over Syracuse on the final day of the tournament. It was the first Power 5 win for UB since 2019 when the Bulls defeated Rutgers in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and the first non-conference Power 5 win since Buffalo took down Clemson at the San Juan Shootout in 2017.The dynamic duo of Dyaisha Fair and Summer Hemphill combined for 62 points to paced UB to an 88-79 victory. Fair led all scorers with 34 points on 11-of-15 shooting to go along with four rebounds and five assists. Hemphill recorded her second straight double-double as she set a new career-high with 28 points while adding 10 rebounds. Junior guard Jazmine Young also scored in double figures with 10 points to go along with two rebounds, six assists and six steals.
James Madison enters Saturday's contest with a 3-2 overall record after defeating North Carolina Central 77-54 on Wednesday afternoon. The Dukes are led offensively by Kiki Jefferson who is averaging 20.8 points and 6.4 rebounds per game. Jamia Hazell is also averaging in double figures with 13.6 points and 2.6 rebounds per game. JMU ended the 2020-21 season with an overall record of 14-10 and a conference mark of 9-6, advancing to the semifinals of the CAA tournament. Peyton McDaniel was named the 2021 CAA Rookie of the Year, while Jefferson was named First Team All-CAA. The Dukes were picked to finish third in the preseason CAA poll.
