Bulls Drop Weekend Finale at Northern Illinois

DEKALB, IL – The University at Buffalo volleyball team fell to Northern Illinois 3-0 in the weekend finale on Saturday night.
The Huskies took the contest 25-18, 25-21, 25-16 as NIU hit .177 for the match, while the Bulls struggled offensively, hitting .087. UB had its best opportunity in the opening set as they were able to rally and tie the set 17-17 but the Huskies closed on a 8-1 run to take the set.
Sophomore Emma Gielas led the Bulls with 11 kills, while Maria Futey added seven. Milla Malik and Courtney Okwara had four kills each while Mandy Leigh had three. Leigh added 20 assists.
Defensively, Jenna Sonnenberg and Malik led the Bulls with 12 digs each while Leigh added nine. UB added five blocks on the night.
UB concludes the regular season at Akron on Wednesday at 7pm.
