
Bulls Fall In MAC Tournament Opener, 85-79

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo men's basketball team dropped its MAC Tournament opener on Monday to Miami (OH), 85-79.
The Bulls outscored the RedHawks in the second half but were undone by a 10-point halftime deficit.
UB got out to a quick start, scoring the first eight points of the game as Miami called an early timeout. The Bulls continued to lead by eight with 11:33 remaining in the opening half when the RedHawks scored seven straight to pull within one.
Buffalo regained a four-point advantage when the RedHawks went on a 13-4 run to take a 42-37 lead. It ended up being a 20-6 Miami run over the final seven plus minutes as the RedHawks took a 49-39 lead into the break.
Senior Davonta Jordan knocked down a triple to open the second half as the Bulls went on a 15-2 run to regain the lead on a jumper from sophomore Ronaldo Segu, giving Buffalo the 54-51 lead with 15:04 left. A three from senior Gabe Grant extended the lead to 63-58 with 11:48 remaining.
Another three from Jordan put Buffalo up 68-62, but a quick 12-5 Miami run put the RedHawks back ahead. The two teams found themselves tied at 77-77 with 1:20 left, but on the ensuing Miami possession, Milos Jovic hit the layup to put the RedHawks back ahead with just 54 seconds left and Miami would hold on to the lead for good.
Segu led the Bulls with 20 points, his second highest scoring output of the season and most points in a game since November.
Jayvon Graves finished with 16 points, four rebounds, and a career high four blocked shots, while Jordan had 11 points, seven rebounds, and six assists. During the game, Jordan moved into second place on UB's all-time assists list.
Sophomore Josh Mballa chipped in 13 points and eight boards. Sophomore Jeenathan Williams had seven points and a game-high 10 rebounds.
Miami was led by 31 points from Nike Sibande and 13 points and eight rebounds from Isaiah Coleman-Lands.
