
Bulls to Compete at Mason Invitational This Weekend

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo softball team continues the 2020 season this weekend as the Bulls travel to Fairfax, Virginia to take part in the Mason Invitational, hosted by George Mason University at the George Mason Softball Complex. UB is scheduled to play four games over the course of three days against Cornell, Hofstra, Canisius and George Mason.
Buffalo is being led at the plate by junior Jenna Richmond who owns a .667 batting average to go along with six hits, one home run and four RBI while slugging 1.000 and recording a .667 on base percentage. Junior Anna Aguon is continuing her solid career in the blue and white as she is batting .370 with 10 hits, including four doubles, three RBI and five runs scored, while Olivia Kincanon has been a breakout performer in her sophomore season batting .357 while recording 10 hits, including two doubles, a triple and a home run, three RBI and four runs scored.
In the circle, the Bulls are led by freshman Madelyn Hickingbottom who has recorded a 2-2 record to go along with a 3.87 ERA and has struck out 27 batters to just 15 walks in 24.1 innings of work. Freshman Alexis Lucyshyn has made five appearances on the year, recording a 4.08 ERA and 12 strikeouts across 24.0 innings.
Scouting the Big Red: Cornell opened the 2020 season at the Spring Games in Madeira Beach, FL last weekend, going 2-3 overall. The Big Red are led offensively by senior Bridgette Rooney who is batting .667 with three doubles, a home run, 10 hits, three RBI and seven runs scored. In the circle, Cornell is led by freshman Mia Burd who has compiled a 2-0 record with a 3.60 ERA and 12 strikeouts in 11.2 innings of work.
Scouting the Pride: Hofstra enters the weekend with a 2-11 overall record after a 0-5 weekend at the Liberty Spring Classic in Lynchburg, VA last weekend. Hofstra is led offensively by freshman Jordan Pietrzykoski who is batting .265 with a home run, two doubles, six RBI and four runs scored. In the circle the Pride are led by sophomore Madison Burks who has compiled a 1-6 record to go along with a 3.86 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 32.2 innings of work.
Scouting the Golden Griffins: Canisius enters the weekend with a 5-8 overall record after a 2-3 weekend at the Silicon Valley Classic in Santa Clara, CA on February 21-23. The Golden Griffins are led offensively by redshirt senior Lauren Castro who is batting .389 with six doubles, a triple, six RBI and four runs scored. Sophomore Alexis Churchill leads Canisius in the circle, recording a 1-1 record with a 4.08 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 24.0 innings of work.
Scouting the Patriots: George Mason enters the weekend with a 3-11 overall record after a 2-2 performance at the Patriot Classic at the George Mason Softball Classic last weekend. George Mason is led offensively by sophomore Taylor Dadig who is batting .364 with four RBI on 12 hits and three runs scored. In the circle the Patriots are led by redshirt senior Marina Vitalich who has recorded a 1-4 record to go along with a 4.41 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 33.1 innings of work.
