
Swim and Dive Gain Experience at Three Day Invite

COLUMBUS, OHIO – The University at Buffalo women's swimming and diving team (1-1, 1-1 MAC) finished in seventh place out of eight participating schools with 753 points at the Ohio State Fall Open Invitational. The three day invite displayed teams from across the nation and even four nationally ranked programs in No. 14 Ohio State, No. 15 Kentucky, No. 17 Notre Dame and No. 25 UCLA. Virginia Tech, Ohio University and Yale also participated in this year's invite.
DAY 1 RECAP
After one day, the Bulls stood in seventh place with 295 points. They finished ahead of MAC foe Ohio University, 153 points. To start the day in the 200 freestyle relay, the team of Allison Stockwell, Jillian Lawton, Jenn Krull and Katie Pollock finished in 11th place in a time of 1:33.24. This is the team's top-time of the early season. Also competing in this event was the squad of Maddy Rogan, Sydnie Sovinsky, Michaela Morgus and Anna Vitolins who finished in a time of 1:36.69 for 20th place.
In the 500 freestyle, junior Brittney Beetcher would crush her best time of the season by over 10 seconds as she finished in 4:48.19 (23rd place).
Olivia Sapio in the 200 IM claimed the top-time of the season for the Bulls as she finished in 2:05.62.
In the 50 freestyle, the Bulls claimed two spots in the top-10. Antonia Naccarella claimed sixth place in a time of 22.94, UB's top-time of the season. Ellie Duley finished in 10th place with a time of 23.44, UB's second-best time of the season. Jillian Lawton finished in 23.07 (22nd place) with Katie Burns (23.31 – 24th place), Andrea Ernst (23.37 – 25th place) and Jenna Krull (27.07 – 37th place) also competed in the event.
The squad of Oliva Sapio, Anna Vitolins, Clarice Fisher and Elinor Duley finished in 23rd place in the 400 medley relay. The squad finished in a time of 3:48.14, UB's best time of the season. Allison Stockwell, Grace Baumer, Sydnie Sovinsky and Maddy Rogan finished in 3:55.39.
In diving, Patricia Arceri finished ninth in the 3-meter diving with a score of 264.00. In 10th place was Victoria Franz with 262.30 points. Journi Northorp (211.50 points – 21st place) and Isobel Holcomb (200.70 points – 24th place) also participated.
DAY 2 RECAP
In the second day of the Ohio State Invite, the Bulls stayed in seventh place with 493 points. UB finished the day still ahead of their MAC rival Ohio who finished with 359 points.
The Bulls started the second day strong. In the 200 medley relay, the team of Nicole Roitenberg, Katie Pollock, Jillian Lawton and Antonia Naccarella finished in ninth place with a time of 1:41.67. This time is now UB's 10th best time in the 200 medley relay in school history. Maddy McDonough, Jenna Krull, Elinor Duley and Katelyn Burns claimed 21st place in 1:44.38.
Lawton had a strong performance in the 100 fly as she finished in 54.33 for eighth place. Her time is now No. 4 in UB's history. Andrea Ernst finished the heat in 55.13 for 16th place.
Brittney Beetcher claimed 21st place in the 400 IM in 4:19.29. This marks UB's top-time in the event this season.
Pollock had a great day for the Bulls as she came in 15th place in the 100 breaststroke in a time of 1:02.61. Her time is now third on UB's all-time list.
Maddy McDonough would join Pollock in the record books as she finished the 100 backstroke in 55:84 (24th place) which is now eighth in school history.
In diving, Victoria Franz led the way for the Bulls as she finished the 1-meter diving in 21st place with 211.00 points. Behind her was Journi Northorp (206.35 points – 23rd place), Patricia Arceri (205.95 points – 24th place) and Isobel Holcomb (205.70 points – 25th place).
DAY 3 RECAP
To start the third and final day of the invite, Brittney Beetcher finished in 15th place in the 1650 freestyle. Beetcher finished in a time of 16:48.01. With respectable heats were Julia Boswell (17:22.07 – 33rd place) and Lena Li (17:36.84 – 35th place).
In the 100 freestyle, the Bulls claimed three spot in the top-15. Jillian Lawton led the way for the squad as she finished with a personal best of 49.89 for 12th place. Andrea Ernst finished in 13th place (50.03) and Antonia Naccarella placed 15th in 50.14.
Grace Baumer completed the 200 breaststroke in 2:17.53, which was good for eighth place. This marks UB's best time on the season.
To top off the invite was the squad of Katelyn Burns, Jillian Lawton, Antonia Naccarella and Andrea Ernst in the 400 freestyle relay. The squad finished in sixth place in 3:19.33. This time marks UB's third best time in school history as they were just .80 seconds off the top-time.
