BUFFALO, N.Y. – The University at Buffalo women's swimming and diving team (1-1, 1-1 MAC) will have a jam packed weekend as the diving team is set to host the UB Diving Invite while the swimmers travel to University Park, Pa. to take on Penn State. This will be the first ever dual meet competition between both schools.
This weekend (Jan. 10-12), the UB diving team is set to host Alfred State University, Penn State University, Niagara University, St. Bonaventure University and the University of Toledo in the UB Diving Invite held at Alumni Arena Pool and Natatorium. Warm ups will take place at 9 a.m. each day of competition, followed by prelims at 11 a.m. and finals immediately after.
Freshman Victoria Franz has started her collegiate career with great performances in every meet this season. She leads the way for the Bulls in both the 1 and 3-meter dives as she has claimed the top scores for UB. In the 1-meter, she has the top score of 297.15 and in the 3-meter she has a score of 318.90.
Journi Northorp has also had a great start to her junior season as has scored a 261.37 in the 1-meter dive along with a 283.50 in the 3-meter.
Sophomore Patricia Arceri looks to improve this weekend and qualify for the NCAA Diving Zones as she is just on the fringe of qualification standards.
On Friday and Saturday, the swimmers will take on Penn State for their first dual meet since competing against Miami (OH) over two months ago. Before the busy weekend, the team will be fresh off their Florida Training Trip from Sarasota, Fla.
Junior Brittney Beetcher has had a dominant start to her season and looks to keep it that way. Beetcher has five top times for the Bulls this season.
The swimmers will look to continue their early season success as they have seven swimmers that have broken into the UB all-time records list.
The dual meet is set to start at 5 p.m. on Friday and 10 a.m. on Saturday. For live stats, CLICK HERE.
