
Volleyball Set to Conclude Regular Season At Ohio And Kent State

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo volleyball team will conclude the regular season this weekend as Buffalo heads to Ohio on Friday night and will wrap up MAC play on Saturday night at Kent State.
Coming off its best weekend of the year, the Bulls are looking to clinch a spot in the upcoming MAC Tournament, needing just one win to do so. Buffalo is currently 11-15 on the year and 7-7 in league play coming off a 3-1 victory over Bowling Green and a 3-2 win over MAC-leading Miami.
Offensively, seniors Rachel Sanks and Polina Prokudina both have 313 kills to lead the team, while sophomore Monika Simkova adds 201. Senior Scout McLerran has a team-best 897 assists and is second on the squad with 176 digs.
Defensively, sophomore Paige Beck leads Buffalo with 396 digs, a new career high for the Toledo, OH native. UB is one of the top blocking teams in the league averaging 2.13 blocks per set. Both junior Lexi Nordmann and freshman Abby Leigh are averaging just under a block a set.
It is an important match for both teams on Friday night in Athens as Buffalo and Ohio have identical 7-7 records. Currently the Bobcats hold the tiebreaker with their five-set win in Alumni Arena. The Bobcats are riding the hot hand of Tia Jimerson who was named both the offensive and defensive players of the week. Setter Vera Giacomazzi was named the MAC East Setter of the Week.
On Saturday night, the Bulls will close out the regular season at Kent State looking to avenge a 3-0 defeat at the hands of the Golden Flashes. Kent State is currently sitting in the eighth and final spot in the MAC standings, looking to clinch a spot in the MAC Tournament.
Friday night's match will be on ESPN+, while Saturday evening's contest will air on ESPN3.
