
Volleyball Continues Road Trip With Matches At Akron And Ball State

BUFFALO, NY- The University at Buffalo volleyball team will conclude its four-match road trip this weekend as the Bulls will face Akron on Thursday night and travel to Muncie, IN to play Ball State on Saturday evening.
The Bulls are 8-14 and 4-6 in league play following a come from behind 3-2 victory at MAC West leading Central Michigan this past Saturday. Senior Rachel Sanks leads the Bulls with 242 kills on the year, followed up closely by fellow senior Polina Prokudina, who has 238 kills. Both players are coming off 20-kill performances in the win over Central Michigan.
Defensively, sophomore Paige Beck leads the team with 325 digs, already a career high for her. As a team, UB is second in the league in blocking at 2.16 per set, led by Lexi Nordmann, who is averaging 0.97 blocks per set.
The Zips are 15-6 and 8-2 in the MAC entering this weekend, with their lone conference losses coming to Ohio and Central Michigan. UB and Akron went into five sets in the MAC opener for both teams with the Zips coming away with a 3-2 win. Akron finds itself tied with Miami and CMU for the best conference record through five weeks. The Zips are hitting .219 as a team and are led by Ashley Richardson in that category (.356). Setter Emily Weigand is second in the league in both assists/set (10.14) and aces/set (0.48).
Buffalo will then travel to Ball State, who opens its weekend on Thursday night against Toledo. With a record of 11-11 and 5-5 in the MAC, BSU will be looking to snap a three-match losing streak, having lost to Bowling Green and Miami last weekend and Kent State the weekend before. Setter Amber Seaman sits third in the conference with 9.71 assists/set.
