
Swimming Welcomes Niagara to Alumni Natatorium

BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo's men's and women's swimming team is welcoming Niagara University this Saturday for a non-conference match-up. The Bulls haven't seen competition since December 4th, when they traveled to Akron, Ohio for the annual Zippy Invitational. The Bulls placed third overall on the both the men's and women's side.
The Bulls saw an abundance of success at their last meet; with numerous first, second, and third place finishes, while nearly re-writing the entire All-time Top-10 Performances. Hannah Miller was an impressive sight in the pool. The junior from Fort Wayne, Indiana took first place in the 1650 Free and was a member of the first place 800 Free Relay Team. She was also able to nab a second place finish the 500 Free. Julia Box was outstanding in the pool: breaking three school records. Box broke the school records in 100 Back, 100 Fly, and 200 Fly with times of 54.31, 54.21, and 1:59.90, respectively. Her times gave her one first place (200 Fly) and two second place finishes. The school recording breaking didn't stop there; Megan Burns broke the school record in the 50 Free, again. She clocked in at 22.11 at the Zippy Invitational, breaking her previous record which she set last year. Burns also took first in the 100 Free and 200 Free, and was a member of the first place 800 Free Relay team alongside Sarah Baxter, Catherine Schultheis, and Hannah Miller; the second place 200 Free Relay team alongside Eve Kosten, Baxter, and Andrea Ernst' the second place 400 Free Relay team alongside Schultheis, Baxter, and Ernst; and the third place 200 Medley Relay team alongside Anna Vitolins, Baxter, and Box.
The men saw a ton of success at the Zippy Invitational as well. Charles Barry took first in the 1650 Free (breaking the meet and pool record) and second in the 400 IM and 500 Free. Mason Miller had a first place finish (100 Fly), a second place finish (50 Free), and was a member of three third place relay teams: 400 Free Relay alongside Eric Jensen, Martin Leigh, and Itai De La Vega; 200 Medley Relay alongside Hudson Carroll, De La Vega, and Garrett Clarke; and the 400 Medley Relay alongside Carroll, Clarke, and Jensen. The 800 Free Relay team consisting of Leigh, Reid Zyniecki, Jensen, and Scott Huang finished first with a time of 6:42.16. Huang also took first in the 200 IM and second in 200 Breast. The Bulls saw three more second place finishes from Tudor Puszet (200 Fly), De La Vega (100 Breast), and Jensen (200 Free); and a third place finish from freshman Joseph Puglessi in the 200 Back.
The men currently hold a 52-34 advantage in the All-Time Series, while the women hold a 31-6 record against Niagara.
The meet is set to begin at 11:00 am.
