
UB Battles Brown To Scoreless Draw; Dougall Sets Program Shutouts Record

BUFFALO, NY – Despite out-shooting the Brown Bears 22-5 for the match, the University at Buffalo women's soccer team (1-2-2, 0-0-0 MAC) picked up their second straight draw on Thursday night, 0-0. Junior goalkeeper Laura Dougall was able to collect the cleansheet, breaking the program record for cleansheets in a career with 22.

How It Happened
- The Bulls were able to get their first shot on goal of the game in the 19th minute Nicole Gerritz made a great hustle play to get to a free ball and then cross it over to Julia Benati who drilled right-footed shot that was saved by keeper.
- Two minutes later Julia Benati forced the Brown keeper to make a diving stop on her free kick that was headed towards the right corner of the net.
- In the 26th minute, Carissima Cutrona made a crafty move to shake free and ripped a shot headed towards the top right corner that the Brown keeper got a fingertip on and forced the ball wide.
- Alex Lambert made a strong play in the 42nd minute to give Julia Benati an opportunity but her hard shot was saved by Christin Etzel, keeping the game scoreless at half.
- Carissima Cutrona had the Bulls first shot of the second half as she took a great feed from Julia Benati in the 61st minute and raced in on goal but her shot was directly at the keeper who made the easy save.
- Moira Petrie had a dangerous chance in the 71st minute as she took a feed from Kara Daly and ripped a shot on goal that was saved.
- The Buffalo offense kept putting pressure on Brown in the 75th minute as Jessica Marlowe sent a great cross into the box where Julia Benati ripped a shot that just missed the right corner.
- The Bulls had their most dangerous chance of the second half in the 87th minute as Julia Benati took a perfect pass from Andrea Niper and she hit a hard shot that the keeper poked over the goal and out of play.
- Brown had a chance in the final minute of the second half as they had a free kick from 30 yards out that Carly Gould headed over the top of the UB net.
- After being all over the Bears in the first overtime period, Moira Petrie drew a foul just outside the box in the 106th minute that turned into a free kick chance for the Bulls. On the ensuing free kick, Andrea Niper's blast went sailing over the cross bar and out of play
- The Bulls had their best chance in the 109th minute as Julia Benati took a hard free kick from 20 yards out that the Brown keeper made a diving stop on but left the rebound sitting aimlessly in the crease before being cleared away by a Brown defender, preserving the 0-0 draw.

- The Bulls and Bears have now played twice in the programs history with Brown holding the 1-0-1 record against UB.
- With the cleansheet in goal, junior Laura Dougall is now the program leader in shutouts in a career with 22, breaking Jaime Adams program record that stood since 2000.
- The Bulls dominated the shot category as they held the 22-5 edge for the game and the 4-1 edge in overtimes. The Bulls also held the advantage in corner kicks for the match, 9-1.
- Senior Ashley Evans had a strong match for the Bulls as she earned her first career start at left back.
- Laura Dougall finished the game with just one save while Brown's keeper Christine Etzel had a huge game with nine saves in the draw.
Player Of The Match
Following the match, Angel Hart was named Player of the Match after a gritty game defensively as the Bears were only able to attempt five shots for the match, one of which was on frame.
