BUFFALO, NY – University at Buffalo swimming and diving head coach Andy Bashor has announced some changes to his coaching staff.
Aaron Mahaney has been elevated to associate head coach after spending the previous three seasons as an assistant coach. Mahaney has worked closely with the distance swimmers in his time with the Bulls.
"Aaron has earned this position with the work he has done for UB over the past three years," Bashor said. "He has done a tremendous job coaching the distance group and has helped many swimmers become MAC champions. I know he will continue to work to make UB Swimming and Diving the best we can be."
Lauren Huber (formerly Baisden) is entering her third season as an assistant coach and has been assigned more recruiting and coaching responsibilities.
"With the changes to the coaching staff, Lauren will be taking on more recruiting and coaching responsibilities," Bashor said. "Over the past two years, she has worked tirelessly to make our team better. She has definitely grown as a coach and I look forward to her continuing this growth into a promising young coach."
New to the staff this year is Michael Camper. He replaces Will Bernhardt who recently accepted the head coaching position at Wittenberg University. A three-time captain and All-American at NC State, Camper spent last year as the head site coach at the Massad YMCA in Fredericksburg, VA. He also served as an assistant coach for the Rappahannock Area YMCA Stingrays-Rays in Fredericksburg. Camper also held head coaching stints for the Olive Chapel Otters swim team and the Weatherstone Sharks swim team.
"I am excited to add Michael to the staff. He was an accomplished swimmer at NC State who provided leadership to help win an ACC title. He is a bright young coach that will bring enthusiasm to the team and staff. I know he is very excited for this opportunity and we look forward to working with him."
