Megan Burns Places 29th in the 100 Freestyle at the NCAA Championships

ATLANTA, GA - Megan Burns concluded her 2015-16 season at the NCAA Championships on Saturday morning. Two days after finishing 22nd in the 50 freestyle, Burns placed 29th in the 100 freestyle on Saturday.
She swam the event in 48.97, which is slightly higher than her season-best and second-fastest time in school history of 48.65, to finish 29th overall. This event was very competitive and close throughout the nine preliminary heats this morning. The time difference between 29th and a spot in the finals (8th place) was less than a second.
With Burns completing her two events at the NCAA Championships, the Rochester, NY native finishes her 2015-16 collegiate season. For the second-straight season Burns won every singles 50 and 100 free events in dual formats and at the MAC Championships. She finishes the year with a new school record in the 50 free, which she broke during the opening leg of the 200 free relay during MAC Championships with a time of 22.16, and the 800 free relay. Buffalo's relay team broke the record on the first night of the MAC Championships with a time of 7:13.83
Burns won three events, 50 free, 100 free, and 800 free relay, at the MAC Championships for the second-straight year. As a result of her success, she was named to first team All-MAC. This the second time in as many seasons that she has earned the honor. She was also named UB Student-Athlete of the Week and MAC Female Swimmer of the Week twice throughout the season in recognition of her success in the pool.
