Bulls Post Strong Finish at MAC Championships

YPSILANTI, MI – The University at Buffalo, the State University of New York women's swimming and diving team crowned three more individual champions and a relay champion on the final day of competition at the MAC Women's Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday night at Eastern Michigan University. As a team, the Bulls finished fourth.
Jessica Powers won her third individual title of the Championships by winning the 1,650 freestyle in a season-best time of 16:27.95. Teammate Spencer Rodriguez took second with a time of 16:34.78 and Hannah Miller posted a fifth place finish (16:50.56) – both season-best times as well.
Megan Burns won the 100 freestyle with a season-best time of 49.04 for her second individual title. The UB freshman also won the 50 freestyle on Thursday.
Brittney Walters broke the school record to finish sixth in the 200 butterfly. Her time of 2:01.38 bettered the previous school record of 2:02.16 held by Rachael Ragen since 2013.
In the diving well, Valerie Lortie finished 13th with a score of 245.55 and Abbey Croce placed 16th with a score of 241.35 on the three-meter board.
The Bulls capped the meet by winning the 400 freestyle relay. Rodriguez, Taylor Steffl, Eve Kosten and Megan Burns won the race in a pool-record time of 3:20.86.
Powers, Rodriguez and Burns were named to the All-MAC First Team and Rodriguez was named the Most Outstanding Senior. Brittney Walters was named to the All-MAC Second Team.
The Bulls finished the 2015 MAC Championships by winning nine individual titles and two relays.
