BUFFALO, NY - The University at Buffalo, The State University of New York women's soccer senior Kassidy Kidd was named Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office. This marks the second time in three weeks that Kidd has been honored by the conference for her play.
The Niagara Falls, Ontario native helped lead the Bulls to a perfect 2-0 week including a win over Central Michigan in the MAC quarterfinals to send UB to their second straight MAC semifinal for the first time in program history.
Kidd was the best player on the field on Thursday in the Bulls season finale against Akron as she opened the scoring in the 13th minute of play to give the Bulls the 1-0 lead. Kidd took a Moira Petrie feed and made a nice move in the box to beat the keeper to the right corner for her team-leading sixth goal of the season. Later in the match, Kidd set up the game-winning goal with her career-high sixth assist of the season. On Sunday in the MAC quarterfinals, Kidd was dangerous offensively for the Bulls as she finished with four shots including one on goal as UB downed the Chippewas in a shootout.
The senior has recorded a career-high six goals and six assists this season while notching 14 points in her last eight matches since making the change to the forward position. She also moved into a tie for 15th place on the Bulls all-time assists list with her 11th career assist in the win over Akron.
Kidd and the Bulls will return to action on Friday at 2:00 pm as they will travel to take on Western Michigan in the MAC semifinals. The Bulls and Broncos battled to a 1-1 draw in their lone meeting earlier this season in Kalamazoo.
