UTEP Posts 6-1 Victory Over UB Women's Tennis Team

EL PASO, TX – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York women's tennis team (1-1) dropped a 6-1 match to host Texas-El Paso (1-0) Saturday afternoon at the El Paso Tennis Club.
Sophomore Margarita Kotok and junior Dayana Agasieva teamed together for a 6-3 first-doubles victory against the Miners. UTEP secured 7-5 and 7-6 (2) wins at the number two and three positions, respectively, to secure the doubles point.
Two Bulls played three setters in singles play. Senior Laura Fernandez tallied a 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 come-from-behind victory against the Miners' Daphne Visscher at fifth singles. Sophomore Laura Holterbosch was edged by Lois Wagenvoort, 2-6, 6-2, 7-5, at fourth singles.
Friday's match against New Mexico State was suspended during doubles play and eventually cancelled due to weather. Saturday's match against Texas State was also rained out.
UB will play its first home match of the spring season on Friday, Feb. 6 hosting West Virginia at the Miller Tennis Center at 1 pm.
