
Bulls Take Top Two Singles Matches, But Fall to WVU, 5-2

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York women's tennis team (1-2) won the top two singles matches, but fell to visiting West Virginia (2-1), 5-2, Friday evening at the Miller Tennis Center.
The Mountaineers edged UB for the doubles point, picking up a 7-6 victory at the third spot with the matches knotted at 1-1. Bulls Laura Holterbosch and Laura Fernandez picked up a 6-3 victory at second doubles.
UB dropped the fifth and sixth singles matches, but would force three sets in the remaining four. Sophomore Margarita Kotok defeated Lyn Yuen Choo, 6-1, 3-6, 6-3, at the second position, before WVU snagged nail biters at the fourth and third spots to secure the win. Freshman Tanja Stojanovska iced the match in tie-breaking fashion, outlasting Kaja Mrgole, 6-3, 6-7 (2), 7-6 (5).
The Bulls return to play on Feb. 20-21 hosting ASA College on Friday and Youngstown State on Saturday.
