ASA College Ousts UB Women's Tennis in Singles Play

BUFFALO, NY – The University at Buffalo, State University of New York women's tennis team suffered a 4-3 setback to visiting ASA College Friday afternoon at Miller Tennis Center.
The Bulls (1-3) swept doubles play, but the Avengers (3-0) claimed four of six singles matches to earn the victory.
Sophomore Margarita Kotok and junior Dayana Agasieva paired together to secure a 6-3 victory at first doubles. Sophomore Laura Holterbosch and senior Laura Fernandez defeated the Avengers' number two duo, 6-4, while rookies Tanja Stojanovska and Christine Haraldson teamed up to outlast ASA at third doubles, 6-3.
The Bulls' two singles victories came in the final two matches of the day. Fernandez defeated Mingxiu Du in tie-breaking fashion, 6-2, 5-7, 7-6 (6), at fourth singles. Haraldson won her three-setter sixth singles match against Daniela Vanko, 6-2, 6-7 (1), 7-5. Stojanovska and Agasieva also went three at first and third singles, respectively.
The Bulls return to action on Saturday hosting Youngstown State at 1 pm.
